The Dave Matthews Band Fund

The most famous graduate of the CHS Orchestra Program, Boyd Tinsley (’82) of the Dave Matthews Band, has made a generous donation to the Charlottesville City Schools. Mr. Tinsley’s gift is to foster music, tennis, and academic tutoring, particularly for economically disadvantaged students. Scholarships for private music lessons are provided to members of the Walker, Buford, and CHS Orchestras who would otherwise be unable to afford them.

In September of 2016, the Boyd Tinsley Fund became the Dave Matthews Band Fund.  The fund is administered by the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation.

We are very grateful to the Dave Matthews Band members for their community spirit and generosity, which helps so many students realize their full musical potential.
